Discovering new ways to work
We’ve got an interesting project on at the moment for a company that wants to film their own material. They have branches across the UK and want to be able to send a camera to a branch
The budget for equipment was reasonably tight so it was a bit of a challenge to find gear that would have the right features and reasonable quality.
I settled in an HD Canon camcorder which records to SD card as AVCHD and a lightweight tripod.
One essential element was a camera with an SD card slot so the footage could easily removed and posted to me for editing.
I was in two minds about including a microphone but in the end decided to go without. I thought that even with a mic I’d still be relying on someone connecting it correctly and pointing it in the right direction at the right time. Poor audio is better than no audio at all, so in the end I decided to just add notes to the instructions
